you should start right now. “Kottke.org …is a weblog about the liberal arts 2.0 edited by Jason Kottke since March 1998 (archives). You can read about me and kottke.org here. If you’ve got questions, concerns, or interesting links, send them along.”
I often reblog many of his posts. He writes excellently concise remarks on just about anything that worth caring about in life. Here are some of my recent favorites:
- You should follow me on Twitter: “Making the phrase more direct and personal by adding the words “you should” increased the clickthrough rate by 38% to 10.09%.”
- How to Read Infinite Jest “4. Physically, Infinite Jest is a large book: 2.2 inches thick and, according to Amazon.com, has a shipping weight of 3.2 pounds. Some readers have found it useful to rip the book in half for easier reading on the subway or on the beach. If you do this, you also need to tear the footnotes from the back half and tape them to front half. This technique has the side effect of giving you the appearance of A Very Serious Reader of Infinite Jest, which will either keep onlookers’ questions to a minimum or maximum, depending on the onlooker.”
- Core human skills
- The Times really really really regrets the error
- 911 call from a baby and other adventures “8:12 pm: Hitchhiker is lying in ditch by car dealer and roundabout. Officer drove by, and formerly belligerent hitchhiker waved at him, is fine and is just resting.”
