    Mehanata is amazing.

Gogol Bordello was amazing on Saturday. Must frequent the Bulgarian bar on the lower east side a lot more. (Ice Box + Live DJ Hutz + Crazy Eastern Europeans = Best Party EVER.) From Eugene’s “When hangover hits… jetlag won’t matter” page:

If any of your band members are Russian, or some other kind of Eastern-European, bear in mind that even if you are touring in a flying jacuzzi they will still start their day with vodka and pickles… and everything as routine as sound-check will seem to them an absolutely new experience every time, just like showing up on time is… In return they will keep absolutely cool if you march into their hotel room in the middle of the night with a ripped-to-shreds possey and a blasting boom-box, then turn on the TV as loud as possible and start hopping on their beds yelling “Viva la revolucion!”

And yes. Gogol Bordello was banned from CB/GB and Bowery Ballroom “after first performances for being too over the mothefucking top….”
